James Elwyn Stockton was born May 18, 1925 in Attapulgus, Ga., the son of Earl and Blanche Nichols Stockton. He was a graduate of Attapulgus High School and Georgia Institute of Technology. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. James was a member of Brinson United Methodist Church. James loved fishing and golfing; it did not matter if he was watching or playing either. He retired from Englehard as a mining engineer and made many friends in The Village. As a member of The Greatest Generation, James coveted relationships with friends and family. He knew the importance of hard work and the reality of sacrifice. He had a quiet demeanor but as a WWII veteran and a Tech grad, he could hold his own in the sharing circle.

Stockton, Jr. and Sharon & Joey Brunson, all of Brinson; his grandchildren, Sherri Brunson Hooper and Jan Brunson Green; and his great-grandchildren, Odin Green, Shauni Hooper, Mary Grace Hooper, and Parker Hooper.
