Ethel Elizabeth was born September 16, 1928 in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Jenny Ruth Poitevient. She was a graduate of Faceville High School. She married Joseph Leon “Jimmy” Wells and they made their home in the Faceville Community. She worked as the store manager for Stone’s in Quincy, Fl. until her retirement. Ethel was a dedicated member of Faceville United Methodist Church where she helped begin the sewing ministry.
Giving…all or nothing, that was “Miss” Ethel’s life. She believed in helping others even if it meant giving her last cent. She gave every task her “all” with 100% effort. She walked three miles per day come rain or shine. She fished from day light to dark regardless of how the fish were biting. And she helped provide over 2,000 dresses through the sewing ministry of Faceville UMC. Who would even have time for cooking? “Miss” Ethel, of course. Friends and family can testify to the goodness of dishes like fried chicken, creamed corn and her famous jellyroll, all made with love. “Miss” Ethel lived her life as the hands and feet of Jesus loving each of us unconditionally and believing in the power of prayer.
Survivors include her children, Steven & Pam Wells of Faceville, and Jody Wells & Kim of Sneads, Fl.; her siblings, Bert & Frances Poitevient of Faceville, and Reba Johnson of Birmingham, Al.; her grandchildren, Brock & Amanda Wells, Bailey & Dillon Driver, Angie & Tim Storsteen, Clay & Chrystle Wells, Michelle & Joey Kendrick, Nikki & Jonathan Fierro, and Heather Wells; and her great-grandchildren, Beckham, Briggs, Sara Beth, Jack, Ann Marie, Trip, Ethan, Addie, Ellie, Gracie, Dawson, Jakob, Kelsie and Tyler. In addition to her mother, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wells; and her son, Richard Wells.
