Mr. White was born in Blakely, Ga., March 26, 1935, the son of Manning Jackson and Golden McDowell White. He moved to Attapulgus, Ga. at the age of six, where he grew up, attended Attapulgus School, played high school basketball, and graduated from AHS. Sonny served four years in the United States Navy and while stationed in Oregon, met and married his wife, Bea.
Sonny and his family moved to Ft. Pierce, Fla. in 1966, where he was a contractor. He loved to have his family around, loved watching college football, especially his favorite UGA Dawgs. Traveling was one of the things he enjoyed so much, and he had been all over the United States and many places while in the U.S. Navy. When he was growing up and even later, while visiting Attapulgus, he loved hunting with our Daddy. Sonny loved his family, friends, classmates and visiting Attapulgus Methodist Church on Sunday morning before heading back home after his class and school reunion.
