Brother Ozell Swain “Cow” transitioned to his heavenly home on January 5, 2020.

Did you know that in his younger days, Ozell was a street racer where he won countless races on the back streets in Florida? He attended the Attapulgus Mt. Moriah High School where he played on the Men’s basketball team as a star athlete from 1967-1970. His play drew admiring fans from North Florida and surrounding southwest Georgia cities to a small segregated high school in Attapulgus. He was known as the “gentle giant” and stood 6’5”, averaged well over 19 points a game, 21 rebounds with 18 block shots during the regular season. Ozell and his teammates played their games on outside courts during his first two years of high school before getting the chance to play in a gym starting his junior year. Even the lack of facilities didn’t keep Swain from becoming a household name. After graduation, Ozell continued his career at Middle Georgia Junior College, but he was only able to play for a year before suffering a career ending knee injury. Ozell was inducted into the Decatur County Sports Hall of Fame on March 19, 2016 for being the most prolific post player that ever graced a basketball court in Decatur County. He was employed by BASF for over 40 years.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife and six children.
