Jingle Bell Jog 5K and 1 Mile Run set for next Thursday

The Bainbridge Decatur County Recreation Authority is bringing the Christmas spirit on Thursday, Dec. 19, when they return with their Jingle Bell Jog 5K and 1 mile run.

Runners ages 12 and under can enjoy a one-mile run or walk through the Lights Along the River at the Earle May Boat Basin. The cost is $8, however race shirts complete with the Jingle Bell Jog logo can be purchased for an additional $15. Racers are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift that can be donated to the West Haven, which is a local non- profit organization that assists in the needs of foster care and will use the toys to make a foster child’s Christmas a little brighter.

The one mile run will have four age categories: 6 and under, ages 7-8, ages 9-10 and ages 11-12. Kids ages 6 and under can have a parent run with them, but the parent cannot carry them.

There will be an overall 1st place winner for male and female, an overall 2nd place for male and female and an overall 3rd place winner for male and female.

Runners ages 13 and up can enjoy a 5K run, that also routes through the Lights Along the River. The cost for the 5K is $10, but runners can also purchase a race shirt for an additional $15. The 5K runners are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for the West Haven.
