Memorial services for Mary Catherine Chason Porter, 71, of Whigham, Ga., were at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2019, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham. Pastor Johnny Moore and Pastor Bob Knight will officiate. Mrs. Porter passed away at her home in Whigham, on Friday, November 29, 2019.

Mrs. Porter was born on June 25, 1948, in Bainbridge, Ga., to the late Hollis Clay Chason and Mildred Ann Brinson Chason, who survives. On December 12, 1975, she married Robert M. “Bobby” Porter, who survives. She was a Civil Service secretary with the Federal Government. She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband, Robert M. “Bobby” Porter of Whigham; daughter, Katina Stewart of Whigham; grandchildren, Christian K. Stewart of Ft. Hood, Texas and Jesse C. Stewart of Whigham; mother, Mildred B. Chason of Whigham; brothers, Wallace Chason (Anita) of Whigham, and Keith Chason of Whigham; sisters, Gloria Pyles (Tommy) of Cairo, Ga. and Lisa Calhoun (Hunter) of Bainbridge; son- in-law, David L. Stewart, Jr. of Cairo; brother-in-law Freddie Michael of Holly Springs, Miss.; sister-in-law; Linda Porter Curles (Terry) of Cotton, Ga.; aunts, Jean Harrell of Whigham, and Lois Chason of Whigham; numerous nieces and nephews; and buddies, Dixie and Maggie Mae.

She was preceded in death by: her father; sister, Bonnie Chason Michael; and a sister-in-law, Pam Bailey Chason.
