SwimCats start season strong at TCC

Congratulations to the SwimCats and Lady SwimCats, who placed fourth in the Yellow Jacket Mid-Week meet. Coaches Chambers, Durham and Conner were very pleased at the effort of these athletes.

“The beginning of the season is always difficult due to the end of fall sports and other school activities,” said Chambers, “so we are thrilled at how well the swimmers performed.

In individual events for the Lady Cats, the following swimmer scored points for the team. Ryland Bland placed fifth in the 200 free, Madalyn Yancy placed sixth in the 200 free, Paige Overman placed fifth in the 200 IM and third in the 500 free, Madison Mills placed 4th in the 50 free and 5th in the 100 free, Sandy Baker placed fifth in the 100 fly and 5th in the 100 back, and Ramsey Mathews placed 4th in the 100 back.

For the SwimCats, point winners were as follows: Griffin Perkins placed 4th in the 200 I.M. and 4th in the 100 fly, Josh Fillingame placed 5th in the 200 I.M. and 6th in the 100 fly, Blake Lowe placed 5th in the 500 free, Jonathan Farrington placed 6th in the 500 free, and Dax Willis placed 5th in the 100 back. 

In relays for the LadyCats, the A team of Ramsey Mathews, Paige Overman, Sandy  Baker and Madison Mills placed 4th in the Medley Relay and 4th in the 200 free relay.  The A relay of Madalyn Yancey, SarahGrace Ferrell, Malloree Inlow and Alex Riche placed third in the 400 free relay.

In relays for the SwimCats, the A relay of Josh Fillingame, Hayden Martin, Griffin Perkins, and Blake Lowe placed 5th in the medley relay, the A relay of Austin Aldridge, Dax Willis, Josh Fillingame, and Blake Lowe placed fifth and B relay of Hayden Martin, Tom Emmons, Joe Emmons and Stokes Moore place sixth in the 200 free relay, and the A relay of Dax Willis, Austin Aldridge, Stokes Moore and Griffin Perkins placed third in the 400 free relay while the B relay of Hayden Martin, Tom Emmons, Brenden Mitchell and Joe Emmons placed 5th. 

The next meet for the SwimCats will be at the Bainbridge YMCA on December 6th.  The coaches and swimmers hope much of the community will come out and support this team of hard working athletes.
