Mary Belle Mills was born September 16, 1920 in Grady County, Ga, the daughter of Thomas Clifford Mills and Mary Jane Brock Mills. She was a graduate of Climax High School. She married James Alvin Dollar in 1938 and moved to the Tampa area shortly thereafter. Mary Belle was a member of Temple Terrace Baptist Church in Tampa.

The girl who grew up on a farm in Southwest Georgia married and took her southern hospitality to the cigar industry. Mary Belle was a Supervisor at J.C. Newman Cigar Co. and worked at the Hav-a-Tampa Cigar Co. She enjoyed water skiing, fishing, traveling and square dancing. She told many stories of times she danced the night away with various square dancing groups. Family fishing trips provided material for tales of the “one that got away” and proved it is as much fun to fish as it is to catch. Didn’t like to bait the hook or remove the fish when caught though. Luckily someone was always there to help with that. Mary Belle was excited when she boarded a cruise ship knowing the next adventure was about to unfold. Some of her favorite memories were made on trips to Alaska and to the Holy Land. Mary Belle remembered her Georgia roots as she traveled abroad and even after she made the move to California in 2003.

Survivors include her son, Hugh Raymond Dollar and his wife, Janet, El Dorado Hills; her grandchildren, Jennifer Dollar Eisenberg and her husband, William, and David Alan Dollar; her great-grandchildren, Erika Eisenberg-Mallery and her husband, P.J., Alida Mary Dollar and Dean Coleman Dollar; and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary Belle was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, James Alvin Dollar; and her siblings, John Quinton Mills, Bertie Mae Mills Martin and Frances Mills Stoutamire-Maples.
