Marvin Ansel Hines, Jr. was born November 12, 1954 in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of Marvin Ansel Hines, Sr. and Dollie Mae Carter Hines. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and Valdosta State College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Marvin owned Main Street Title Loans in Dawson and was Baptist by faith.

Home may have been Bainbridge, but Mexico Beach could have been except the catfishing was not the same as on the Flint. Marvin loved everything about Gulf County, Fla.. from the fishing to the fellowship. He was quite a chef in his own right. He could cook most anything, but his specialty items were stuffed flounder (which he ate right out of the pan) and cakes. Seafood was definitely his favorite meal reminding him each time of fun times at the “Bainbridge Ghetto”.

Survivors include his children, Megan Elizabeth Hines of Thomasville, Ga., Meredith Alicia Lee and her husband, Ronald Lee II, of Burlington, Iowa, and Christopher Ashley Hines and his wife, Davelyn, also of Thomasville; his sister, Linda Newsome and her husband, Sam, of Bainbridge; and his grandchildren, Madison and Ashton. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Hines.
