Hazel Elizabeth (Libby) Walsingham Maxwell, age 72, of Cairo, Georgia, passed away early Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Archbold Hospital, Thomasville, Georgia.  Services for Mrs. Maxwell will be held at 11 am, Saturday, October 5, 2019, Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, Georgia.  The Rev. Andrew Donaldson will officiate.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10.

Hazel Elizabeth Walsingham was born January 22, 1947, in Cairo, Georgia.  Her parents, Willard W. Walsingham and Hazel I. Cain Walsingham, have preceded her in death.  Libby was a happy, loving person.  She was a talented hairstylist and worked at that for 33 years.  Libby was deeply devoted to caring for her parents.  She married the love of her life, Walter E. Maxwell.  After 36 years together, Walter died in 2010.  Libby enjoyed getting together with her graduating classmates and attending family reunions.  She was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church and the Homemaker Sunday School Class.  A loving and thoughtful friend, she was always ready to help with food, a kind word, or prayer.  Libby truly loved her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Hazel Elizabeth Maxwell is survived by her son, Bryan Maxwell; her brothers, Skeet Walsingham and wife, Clara, and Gary Walsingham; grandchildren, Faith Maxwell, Tyler Zebley, and Emily Zebley; nieces and nephews, Michael Walsingham and wife, Kristi, Andrea McCradic and husband, Donnie, Pilar Hobbs and husband, Derrick, Jefferson Thompson, Hugh Thompson, Kathy Pollock, and Melissa Holliman and husband, Karl.  Libby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Patricia Thompson.
