William Kedric McCranie was born January 23, 1937 in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Kedric Cornelius “Buster” McCranie and Lou Ellen Hunt McCranie. Bud was a graduate of Lanier High School for Boys in Macon. He married Nona Hill and they made their home between Bainbridge, Macon and Young Harris, settling back home in Bainbridge after his retirement. Bud was a member of Glenwood Hills Baptist Church in Macon.

Work never scared Bud as he approached each task with a strong work ethic. He retired from the United States Postal Service and headed to work at Quincy Farms and later with Decatur County as a court bailiff. Like any good ol’ boy he loved farming, baseball, and football. He managed his own herd of cows and passel of hogs, loving every single minute of the time spent in the pen. Bud managed to squeeze in time for exploring the north Georgia mountains when he wasn’t cheering on the Florida State Seminoles in the fall or his beloved Atlanta Braves in the spring & summer. He loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh. Bud’s best material came from his favorite comedian, Ray Stevens.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nona H. McCranie; his children, Lynn & Rodney Heard; his sister, Virginia Kitchengs of Bainbridge, Ga.; his brother-in-law, Larry Daniels of Hawkinsville, Ga.; his grandchildren, Morgan & B. J. Johns and Melissa & Brad Lambert; his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Trey, Hayleigh and Hayden; and his numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Ard.
