Lance and Kristen Lane are well known for their service and dedication to Uncle Bill’s Pizzeria. Now, they are taking that same service and dedication to their new business, Lane’s Downtown Detail, which opened on Tuesday.

When Lance first saw the location at 200 W. Shotwell Street become available, he said he thought it would be perfect for a detail shop. He knows the area has several detail shops already, but he is confident the business will be successful.

Lance detailed cars when he was in high school, but had never cleaned them professionally. However, Kristen said this has been an idea he’s had for a while and is ready to take it on.

Lance and Kristen’s first customer can attest that the detail shop is ready. Lance said they had a man swing by on Saturday, who had door handle stains he was unable to get out. Lance quickly went to work and had them out in no time. Lance said he was excited to see a customer happy and hopes that he is only the first of many to come.

The shop will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and offers several different options.

Package one is a wash and go. It includes a full car wash, rims and tires, windows, tire shine, bug removal and a hand dry. Cars will start at $20 and trucks/SUV’s will start at $25.

Package two, known as the basic in and out includes everything the wash and go offers, along with a full carpet vacuum, seats cleaned, dash cleaned and windows cleaned. Cars will start at $25 and trucks/SUV’s will start at $30.

Package three is the works full detail. It will include everything the wash and go offers, along with the basic in and out plus tar removal, spray wax, interior doors, interior stains removed, interior shampoo, truck bed cleaned or the trunk vacuumed, cleaned and stains removed along with an air freshener. Cars will start at $55 and trucks/SUV’s will start at $65.

For an additional $15, customers can add a ceramic coating option to any of the packages.

For customers who may not have the time to wait to get their car serviced, Lane’s offers pickup and delivery for an additional $5. They will offer pickup Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.- 10 a.m. by appointment only. Customers can make appointments by calling (229) 254- 6761 during their regular business hours, however in order to pickup and deliver the vehicle, it has to be in the city limits and at a business location.

Lance said they are fully insured, so no one will have to worry about the safety of their vehicle.

Lance and Kristen both said they are looking forward to repeat customers. They have built a reputation for customer service at Uncle Bill’s and hope it carries over to this business. They don’t want the cars to just shine; they truly want to clean the car, while giving customers a relaxing atmosphere.

Lance said they will have an air-conditioned waiting area with free coffee, water and Wi-Fi and if not that, they can go grab a pizza across the street while they wait.

While they are only offering these three packages at the time, Kristen and Lance said in January they will begin offering plans, where families can all come get their car detailed for a certain price, but it will just take time to develop exactly what they want to offer.

In addition, they hope to continue offering other services, such as headlight restoration and engine bay cleaning in the future as well.

For now though, the family hopes customers stop by and allow them to service their car with the best products.
