The late Rev. James B. Austin, Jr. passed away August 30, 2019 at John D. Archbold Hospital, Thomasville, Ga..  He was the son of the late Elder James R. and Mrs. Edith B. Austin.

He was a renowned Educator in the Decatur County School System for 45 years where he retired as Principal of Lillian E. Williams Elementary School in Attapulgus, Ga.  He also was a former Pastor at St. John A.M.E. Church, Climax, Ga. He was an astounding Leader as well as a Mentor, and a Pillar in the church and community.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and dedicated wife, Mamie T. Austin; one devoted son Michael B. Austin (Letitia); two loving daughters Jeanette Grimsley (Jason) and Josephine Hadley, all of Bainbridge, Ga.; a loving sister Marilyn A. Wade of Attapulgus; his loving grandchildren Talisha Hodges (AJ), Taylor Austin, Jocelyn Grimsley, Hadley Barthel, Jaiana Grimsley, Corbin Austin and one great-grand, Braylen Joseph, all whom he loved and cherished very much. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Nelson Chapel A.M.E. Church, Bainbridge, Ga. at 11 a.m.  Pastor John Thomas, Sr., will be the eulogist.  Bruton Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
