#IBELIEVE has been my motto during this entire journey and will continue to be. I Believe God has a plan for everything! When I found my lump the last week of January that was my resolve, cancer or not God would get ALL the Glory, so I believe!
March 22, 2019 will be a day burned in my memory as the day my life forever changed. That was the day I was diagnosed with stage II, HER2 positive, hormone positive breast cancer. At 37 with only distant family having had breast cancer, I was truly taken back by the diagnosis. But thankfully I had the gift of having an amazing family and surgeon I could immediately turn to.
Dr. Walker was so helpful and thorough through my bilateral mastectomy and transition to Pheobe Cancer Center. My local family has stepped up to help out with so much but especially with making sure our children always have stability during all the doctor’s visits and hospital stays.
Plus my amazing husband has been my rock without complaint at any point, just always ready for whatever comes next. know now that I couldn’t have made it this far without my salvation and any one of these people.
There has been so much that has happened with surgeries, treatments, hospital stays, etc. but I am only completing this phase of the journey. So far I have finished 5 of 6 chemo treatments and have radiation next. After 6 weeks of daily being in Albany, for the radiation treatments, I will be able to look forward to reconstruction surgery. Sometimes I sit and think of how I cannot believe it’s only been a little over four month but how many AMAZING things God has done and a lot of those times through so many wonderful people.
That is why today I asked for as many of my local supporters to come out to the Bainbridge square today and help me celebrate my LIFE for another year and my VICTORY over cancer this far. There are so many people God has used in and around Bainbridge to pour out love and support through prayers, gifts, food, financial support, visits, and so much more that I thought getting a picture would help me always remember.
Yes it has been a very long first four months but I can only say God has been SO GOOD to my family and I. We are eternally grateful for everyone and we ask for continued prayers as we continue this journey of VICTORY over cancer. Psalm 16:8.
