A new artist exhibit will open with a public reception at the Firehouse Arts Center Jimmy Harrell Gallery on Thursday, August 15, featuring Paige Brown, a rising, self-taught artist from Ozark, Alabama.
She began painting only five years ago, focusing on the color and inspiration she receives from her love of the South and all its unique offerings. She especially loves focusing on bird hunting themed art. She loves the brightly colored birds, as well as the majestic hunting dogs that accompany the sport. Her rendering of “Porch Dogs” shows a stately canine group ready to greet visitors.
Presently, her paintings of florals, dogs and farm themed images are being replicated by the Lucky Bird Clothing Company on clothes, pillows and other home décor found in retail stores nationwide, and even Europe.
The public is invited to come meet this young artist at an open reception from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring hors d’oeuvres by Jackie Willis.
The exhibit will continue to be open Aug. 16-18 and Aug. 23-25 in the Jimmy Harrell Gallery. Friday hours are 1 to 4 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
