Carl Douglas Chapman was born March 16, 1955 in Orange County, Fla., the son of Carl Hill Chapman and Frances Crowder Chapman. Shortly after high school graduation, at the ripe old age of 17, Doug moved to Southwest Georgia. He worked as a collections manager for the FSU Credit Union. Doug was Baptist by faith.
Known as the life of the party, Doug made sure everyone was happy and fed. (Sometimes he even did the cooking.) He enjoyed good music especially Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton and BB King. He spent many hours fishing in waters from Mexico Beach to the Flint River. Doug’s trademark would be his muscle cars, any of which would be described by fans as “sweet rides”.
Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Patterson and her husband, Darin, of Newberry, Fla.; his sister, Sandy Hungerford and her husband, Frank, of Orlando, Fla.; his grandchildren, Jade, Darwin, Dallas and Dayton; his nieces, Linda Antpusat and Kaitlin Meister of Orlando; and his nephew, Tobin Dale of Nashville, Tenn. Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
