Suspect in high-speed hit-and-run found

Monday afternoon at approximately 3:30p.m, Anthony B. Cannon of Quincy, Florida entered Decatur County heading north on Faceville Highway and was traveling an excessive speed of 100 mph.

While driving, Cannon left the roadway several times and hit multiple vehicles, sending one driver to the hospital. He additionally hit several more vehicles in Downtown Bainbridge. He then drove to Chason Park, where he left his vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol assisted in the search, but were unable to locate him on Monday. Searching continued into Tuesday, where they found Cannon at 2:30 p.m. located on 155 Dempsey Road at his mother’s home.

Officer Michael Cox was thankful for everyone who sent in tips to help locate Cannon and said they were useful in the investigation.

Cox said they have taken out three warrants on Cannon for obstruction of an officer, eluding an officer and aggravated assault on an officer.
