Mr. Damon George McGinty, age 52, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at his home in Chiefland, Florida. Services for Mr. McGinty will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 18, Salem Baptist Church, Climax, Ga.. The Rev. Ryan Zearing will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Church Cemetery. Melvin Sharpe, Justin McGinty, Dewayne Sharpe, Tim McGinty, Glenn Faircloth, and Josh Faircloth will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10:00 am.
Damon George McGinty was born August 11, 1966 in Clearwater, Fl. He grew up in Florida. In 1991, he moved from Largo, Florida to Decatur County, Georgia. Damon was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was a good man, who took good care of his family. He enjoyed watching western movies, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family. Damon was a truck driver. He very much enjoyed driving. He worked for G and G Trucking Company for over 22 years. Damon will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Damon is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Baxley of Chiefland, Fl.; children, Crystal Albrecht (Doug Jackson) of Zephyrhills, Fl., Joshua Perry of Zephyrhills, Michael Perry of Zephyrhills, Dewayne Sharpe of Cairo, Ga., Justin McGinty (Ana) of Cairo, and Melvin Sharpe (Tara) of Bainbridge; brothers, Tim McGinty of Climax and Kenny McGinty of Hobbs, New Mexico; girlfriend, Michelle Miles; father-in-law, Gordon Faircloth; and his faithful companion, Lizzie. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy George McGinty.
