SouthWind excels again as the 2019 Orvis Wingshooting Lodge of the Year

Every year, the Orvis Company has the difficult task of selecting one wing-shooting lodge, which exemplifies excellence to be named the Orvis Wing-Shooting Lodge of the Year.

Orvis representatives make this determination through an evaluation of the following: quality of the hunt, accommodations, customer service, dining, as well as guests giving feedback about their overall experience. We are honored that Orvis has selected SouthWind Plantation to be named the 2019 Orvis Wing-Shooting Lodge of the Year.
Every year, for thirty-four years, the Orvis Company has recognized excellence in sporting experiences and adventures through its Endorsed Lodges, Outfitters and Guides Program. These awards are based on a number of criteria, the most important of which is customer feedback. The reviews from customers who have experienced these facilities are the ultimate judges of success. Also taken into consideration are the operation’s environmental commitment to and stewardship of their natural resources, and their partnership with Orvis in providing the finest sporting adventures possible.

With a continuous commitment to excellence, SouthWind Plantation has purchased an additional 1,100 acres, which is available for the upcoming quail season. This will enable SouthWind to offer customers a new hunting experience, which will create lifetime memories.

The following review was one of the many that stood out in the minds of the selection committee and was chosen to be read during the awards presentation:

“For 4 years I’ve enjoyed annual November/December visits to Southwind. This year I added a March trip knowing the unforgettable experiences could only be topped by sharing Southwind with my father and my son. Dad taught me to hunt when I was 7. My son, 17, loves shooting but had never been on a hunt. It would be easy to go on and on about the friendliness of the staff, the exceptional food or the luxurious accommodations, but this review is about 3 generations hunting together for the first time. As always, exceptional guide, Reed was so much fun to hunt with. The dogs never missed a beat. My son shot his first quail: the birds as always are plentiful and sporty. My son finished with 20….I just told him I’ve ruined his future hunts. If he is not hunting at Southwind, He’s going to be disappointed. We even snuck in a little afternoon bass fishing. Thanks Southwind for taking such amazing care of hosting us.”
