Bainbridge Public Safety and Georgia State Patrol both responded to the accident. Figueroa’s mother also responded to come check on the children. BPS saw that both children were in their car seat and were immediately assessed for injuries, where they found none. However, BPS officer Frank Green was concerned with the grandmother’s fatigue and the baby getting too hot and transported them to his air-conditioned vehicle until EMS could arrive.

Figueroa was transported to Miller County Hospital by South Georgia EMS and Roberts was transported to Bainbridge Hospital.

Although they had to be transported to the hospital, Green said the good thing is there were no serious injuries in this accident, especially with young children.

These types of accidents where one vehicle is stopped or stalled and the other car doesn’t see them can lead to people getting killed he explained. He said everyone is very lucky and to always watch out for other drivers traveling at a slow rate of speed or pulling over to make a full stop.
