This past weekend, Grace Christian Academy varsity track team participated in the GICAA State Track Meet, where Wyatt Carpenter took home two state titles.

The girls began the meet with a fifth place win from Lainey McRae in the 300M hurdles. They then took home a fourth place win in the 4x100M Relay. The team was made up of Mary Glenn Warr, Caroline Wells, Kate McRae and Lainey. Lainey also helped scored a sixth place win in the 4x400M Relay with teammates Wells, Kate and Isabella Barnett.

Seeing the success in the girl’s division, the boys pushed their talent to the limit. They started off with an eighth place win from De’Andre Rogers in the 100M. Rogers then placed sixth in the 200M. Gabe Parker placed sixth in the 400M, but Wyatt Carpenter took home the first place win for the 1600M. It would be one of Carpenter’s many victories throughout the day.

Carpenter went on to take first place in the 3200M, with teammate Daniel Jones taking eighth and helped his team place seventh in the 4x100M Relay and place fourth in the 4x400M Relay. Carpenter couldn’t have had success in the 4X100M relay without the help of Chasen Wood, Jones and Rogers and couldn’t have done the 4x400M relay without Parker, Wood and Jones.

Wood placed fourth in the 110M hurdles and Rogers placed third in the long jump to finish out the day.

The school was proud of the team’s success and looks forward to building on it even more next season.
