Baseball players named to All-Region teams

A number of Bearcat baseball players made it onto the All-Region 1-AAAAA list.

Second baseman Sam Boutwell was named onto the first team All-Region.

In region play, Boutwell was 15-of-37 at the plate with 10 RBIs and 6 runs for a .405 batting average. At second base, he had 40 total chances with 15 assists and 21 putouts. He also had 4 double plays.

On second team All-Region from Bainbridge was shortstop Quayde Hawkins, catcher Colton Harrell, pitcher Cayden Sconyers, outfielder Michael Conder, third baseman Jase Godwin and DH Ivan Velasquez.

In region play, Hawkins was 14-of-37 at the plate with nine singles, four doubles and a triple. He had six RBIs and seven runs with a .37a batting average. At shortstop, he had 44 total chances, 25 assists and 17 putouts.

Harrell was 9-of-31 from the plate with 4 RBIs and 5 runs for a .290 batting average. He caught for 46.2 innings, allowing only 5 passed balls and catching two runners stealing.

Sconyers pitched 26.1 innings in region play, racking up two wins and two losses. He struck out 22 batters and sported a 1.595 ERA.

Conder was 9-of-34 at the plate in region play, racking up 8 RBIs and a .265 batting average. He had 14 total chances and 14 putouts in the field.

Godwin, a third baseman, was 10-of-39 at the plate with 3 RBIs and five runs for a .256 batting average. In the field he had 45 total chances, 19 assists and 13 putouts.

Velasquez was 15-of-63 at the plate with 11 RBIs, 6 runs and a home run for a .238 batting average. In the field he had 48 total chances with one assist and 46 putouts.

Making the Honorable Mention list was Jackson McCullough and Jaheim Jenkins.

McCullough was 8-of-33 at the plate and had 3 RBIs and 4 runs. He had 13 total chances, 11 putouts and 2 assists in the field.

Jenkins was 6-of-22 at the plate with 5 RBIs and 7 runs. He had 11 total chances at 11 putouts in the field.
