Carolyn Pate Godwin

Graveside funeral services for Carolyn Pate Godwin, 86, of Tallassee, Ala. are at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Ga. Family members, Rev. Stanley Godwin and Frank Pritchett will officiate. Mrs.. Godwin passed away at her home in Tallassee, on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

Mrs. Godwin was born on March 13, 1933, in Cairo, to the late Walter Lee Pate and Mary Elizabeth Durham Pate Gainous. On October 21, 1949, she married Corry M. Godwin, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2001. They were married for 52 years. Carolyn was the manager of the local Stripe Discount Store in Cairo. She attended Eastside Baptist Church in Cairo for many years.

Survivors include: daughters, Beth Wesley of Vilias, Fla., Dianne Sides of Tallassee; son, Gary Godwin (Laura) of Greensboro, Fla.; grandchildren, Jay Bachani of Vilias, Nikki Bachani of Thomasville, Fla.,Heath Godwin (Sherri) of Altha, Fla.,Kiel Godwin (Amanda) of Blountstown, Fla., Kevin Sides of Tallassee, ;17 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Kasey Sides; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; grandson, Chris Bachani; and a sister, Shirley Williams.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Godwin’s memory to: Eastside Baptist Church, P. O. Box 749, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on May 4, 2019, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
