Taurus USA’s new North American headquarters at the Commodore Industrial Park in Bainbridge will begin manufacturing a portion of the company’s firearm line by August, with plans to be in full operation by January 2019.

“It won’t be full scale, but there will be full scale 300 jobs in January,” said Rick McCaskill, executive director of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Development Authority.

To help propel Taurus USA toward its goal of filling a large portion of those jobs in time, the firearms manufacturer will host a job fair at the Kirbo Center May 7-8, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. Taurus USA is looking to fill jobs in almost every department, from accounting to sales to engineering and manufacturing.

Those interested should bring resumes and expect a preliminary interview with representatives from the company before being sent to another interview with someone that represents their specific department.

“It’s a pretty intricate operation,” said McCaskill. “You will come in and have a resume and do a quick interview, then the people who interview you will decide who you need to go interview with. It may be that you need to interview with this person that’s engineering and this person that’s manufacturing. It’s a lot of jobs. We have to fill 230 jobs right off the bat.”

Taurus USA’s state-of-the-art headquarters also is designed with room for expansion, meaning more jobs in the future.

“And they have major expansion plans,” added McCaskill.

A portion of Taurus USA’s calls department is already set up in Bainbridge.

“The people that work for Taurus, you can tell they just love working for them,” said McCaskill. “They are proud to be working for Taurus, and I’m sure the people in Bainbridge will feel the same way.”

Ground was broken for the firearms manufacturing plant in April 2018 with a target opening date of fall 2019. Taurus USA is right on track for that date. The building will be about 200,000-square-feet, with 180,000-square-feet for manufacturing space and 20,000-square-feet for administrative space. The manufacturing facility will meet Taurus USA’s current and growing demands in the North American market.
