Dr. Jerry Glenn Mitchell, age 76, of Jakin, GA passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services for Dr. Mitchell were held on Monday morning, April 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Stephen Mitchell, Ben Mitchell, Garrett Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Trevor Whiddon, Tal Whiddon and Greg Gaughan serving as casketbearers. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 3-5 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.

Dr. Mitchell was born on May 4, 1942, to William Glenn Mitchell and Jimmie Holloman Mitchell. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Jakin, Ga.. Dr. Mitchell was a veterinarian receiving his degree in 1965 from Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and a past president of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.

He is survived by his wife, Kate McDonald Mitchell; his mother, Jimmie Holloman Mitchell; his sons, Chris Mitchell (Emily) of Blountstown, Fla., Mark Mitchell (Connie) of Bainbridge, Ga., Scott Mitchell (Kim) of Donalsonville, Ga.; Todd Mitchell (Robin) of Enterprise, Ala.; his step-daughters, Roxane Whiddon (Tal) of Tallahassee, Fla., Renee Gaughan (Greg) of Jakin, Ga.; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Stephen Mitchell, Garrett Mitchell, Ben Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Madison Mitchell, Abby Golden, Hinson Golden, Nathan Freese, Morgan Sims (Caleb), Hayden Freese, Josh Martin (Elizabeth), Hannah Moore (Blake), Tiffany and John Gemmell, Trevor Whiddon, Tara Whiddon, Emily Lavoie, Aubrey Gaughan, Carter Gemmell, Beau Gemmell, and Evie Gemmell. His is also survived by his brothers, Jerome Mitchell (Charlotte), and Mike Mitchell (Paula).

Dr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, William Glenn Mitchell.
