The Bainbridge High School Girls varsity soccer team travelled to Dothan Tuesday, for a contest with the Dothan High School Tigers, and came back with well earned 3-0 victory.
The win avenged a 1-0 early season loss to the Lady Tigers at Centennial Field.
Bainbridge took a 1-0 lead as Junior Midfielder Jamya Brinson scored the first goal of the game, in the 16th minute.
Bainbridge began the scoring attack by passing the the ball deep into Dothan territory with a flurry of passes. A Dothan defender attempted to safely clear the ball, but Brinson stepped in front of the pass stealing it, and promptly dribbled to the edge of the Penalty area. She then cut a crossing a shot from eighteen yards out for the goal. The goal was the only score of the first half as Bainbridge led 1-0.
Brinson scored again in the 51st minute to give the Lady Cats a 2-0 lead.
Bainbridge drove the ball deep into Lady Tiger Territory forcing a Dothan defender into a questionable pass, that was stolen by Brinson , who then dribbled the endline before sending a 12 yard shot scoring the second goal.
The final goal of the game came in the 69th minute, of the game, as Freshman Defender Abi Surratt knocked in a six yard shot.
Brinson dribbled the ball down the right side and sent a pass to Senior Forward Mabry Grace Briggs whose shot was deflected by the goal keeper to the center of the goal to Lady Cat Freshman midfielder Evelyn Mach. Mach redirected the ball to a wide open Surratt who knocked the ball into the far post.
“I was pleased with the girls as they played hard throughout. Juniors Sandy Baker, Noelle Tyre, and Taylor Emmons were relentless on the defensive end. Goal Keeper Keilaya Pryor did a good job in the goal to perserve the shutout.”
Last Friday Bainbridge dropped an 8-2 decision to Harris County in Hamilton as both Brinson and Briggs scored goals in each half.
After the win Bainbridge raised its record to 5-6 on the season. They will next host Thomas County next Thursday in a region contest at Centennial field.
