The Bainbridge High School Lady Bearcat varsity Soccer team scored four goals in each half in route to a 8-0 over Monroe High School in Albany Tuesday night.
Bainbridge Junior Midfielder Jamya Brinson scored the opening goal in the 9th minute, as she stole the ball from a Monroe defender and hit a crossing shot from 16 yards away.
The Ladycats went up 2-0, in the 16th minute, as Junior Defender MacKenzie Pickle received a pass from Junior Midfielder Genesi Martinez, and promptly struck a one touch shot to the right post.
Senior Midfielder Mabry Grace Briggs scored on a breakaway, in the 21st minute, as Brinson sent a nice through pass to Briggs that she finished for a score from six yards away to give Bainbridge a 3-0 advantage. The last score of the first half came a minute later as Freshman Midfielder Anna Kate Littleton sent a pass to Brinson on the right side who quickly sent a crossing shot scoring from 15 yards out swelling the lead to 4-0 in favor of the Lady Cats.
Lady Cat Junior Defender Sandy Baker scored in the 43rd minute as teammate Junior Taylor Emmons sent a corner kick that found her open at the 6-yard box and Baker knocked in to make the score 5-0.
Following a corner kick by Emmons, a shot was taken and the ball bounced off of the goal keeper but right at Junior Defender Noelle Tyre, who lofted a shot to make the score 6-0 in the 63rd minute.
Bainbridge’s final two scores came in the 64th and 74th minute as Emmons intercepted a pass and finished a shot from 16 yards out, while Brinson scored a goal following a steal in the penalty area to give the Lady Cats a 8-0 victory.
The win, which gives the Lady Cats a 3-5 overall record, came on the heels of a 6-1 loss to Harris County last Friday night. The lone Bainbridge score came on breakaway by Brinson as Baker sent a pass through the Harris County defense.
