Tax credit meetings scheduled for hurricane-impacted landowners

A series of meetings have been scheduled to explain the Timber Tax Credit program for hurricane impacted landowners.

In November 2018, the Georgia General Assembly authorized a $200 million Timber Tax Credit to assist in offsetting substantial economic losses incurred during Hurricane Michael in 28 Georgia counties. The application period through the GA Dept. of Revenue opened March 1 and runs to August 1, 2019. General eligibility and guidelines have been released.

The Georgia Department of Revenue, University of Georgia and Georgia Forestry Commission will provide program information.

Four locations for the informational programs have been designated in southwest Georgia.

March 6 at 6: p.m. – Cloud Livestock Facility, 1300 East River Rd., Bainbridge

March 11, 6 p.m. – Miller County High School Cafeteria, 996 Phillipsburg Rd., Colquitt.

March 12, 6:30 p.m.  – Bindery/Public Library, 445 Oakland Parkway, Leesburg.

March 13, 6:30 p.m. – UGA Cooperative Extension Office, 110 14th Ave. East, Cordele.
