The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats Varsity soccer team came up on the short of two region contests, succumbing to Veterans High School 10-0 at Centennial Field Friday night and 6-1 to Thomas County in Thomasville Tuesday.

The Veterans High School Lady Warhawks, Region 1-5A champions the past two seasons, showed their dominance as the region powerhouse demonstrated early in the contest precision passing and with Shots on target as they scored nine first half goals.

In the game with Thomas County the Lady Cats gave a valiant effort surrendering a lone goal midway of the first half. Thomas County was on the attack but the Bainbridge defense stiffened but a turnover in the defensive third provided a quick Thomas County score from 12 yards out.

In the second half Bainbridge Senior Forward Mabry Grace Briggs sent a pass to Junior Midfielder Jamya Brinson who sent a a well timed crossing shot to the right post to tie the score in the 43rd minute of the match. But unfortunately for the Lady Cats costly mistakes in the final defensive third, resulted in five Thomas County goals spread out the second half and the final 6-1 score.

Coach Ariail gave his assessment “I thought we played much better than against Veterans as we were aggressive with our play throughout, instead of passive. But we were not disciplined at times thus giving the Lady Jackets extra opportunities that led to all of the second half scores. Right now we are going to continue to work on our consistency, when we cross that bridge the results will be vastly different.  The loss drops the lady Cats record to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in region play.
