The Bainbridge Bearcats soccer team opened up its season last Friday with an impressive 9-0 victory over the Dougherty County Trojans.

Nix McIntosh and Caleb Harris led the way in goal scoring with each providing a hat trick, accomplished by scoring at least three goals. Angel Munoz contributed two goals of his own, and Andru Matthews scored on a corner kick opportunity. Cesar Chiguil and Mason Ard controlled the midfield and provided outstanding service to their teammates throughout the match.  Both were workhorses all night long.  On the wing Stokes Moore worked diligently to provide service and cover defensively, while Adam Pascual looked dangerous at times on the attack. The defensive combination of Collin Morrison, Tom Emmons, Joe Emmons, Tristan Brannan, and Andru Matthews, along with strong keeper play by Matthew Hall, led to a clean sheet for the evening for the Bearcats.

Jose Avalo, Luke Emmons, Aiden Matthews, Ashton Matthews, Juan Escamilla, Jesus Sanchez, Alfredo Rodriguez, and Garrett Sigman all played meaningful minutes as well.

Coaches Rick Lewis and Jamie Ard were impressed with the team’s performance on the night, but they also commented that the team must not get satisfied with the opening performance.  It is a long season, and to achieve ultimate success the team will need to continue to demonstrate continued improvement throughout the season.
