Bearcats beat region leader Warner Robins at home

The Bainbridge Bearcats basketball team grabbed two much needed wins last weekend, one against region leader Warner Robins 50-48 and the other against rival Thomas County Central 66-40.

The Bearcats are now 11-12 (4-4 region) with one more game on their schedule against Seminole County on Saturday. The Demons still hold first place in Region 1-AAAAA at 5-2, followed by Harris County at 4-2, Veterans at 4-3, Bainbridge at 4-4 and Thomas County Central at 0-6.

In double figures for the Bearcats against Warner Robins was Anthony Florence with 14 points. Other scorers for the Bearcats were Deyon Bouie with 9 points, Bryce Jones with 8 points, Dewayne Kyles with 6 points, Kalun Brown and TJ Tarver with 5 points each, and Jeremiah Davis with 3 points.

Saturday night against the Yellow Jackets, double figure scorers for the Bearcats were Anthony Florence with 18 points, Kalun Brown with 12 points and Jeremiah Davis with 11 points. Other scorers for the Bearcats were TJ Tarver with 9 points, Deyon Bouie with 8 points, Dewayne Kyles with 6 points and Tyrell Bryant with 2 points.

The Lady Cats didn’t fare as well against the Lady Demons losing 51-25 in a game they fell behind early. The team bounced back quickly and beat Thomas County Central the next night 45-27

The Lady Cats are now 11-13 (2-6 region) and sit in fourth place behind Veterans (7-0), Harris County (5-1) and Warner Robins (3-4). TCC sits last in the region at 0-6.

In double figures for the Lady Cats against the Lady Demons was Ziauna Andrews with 10 points. Other scorers for the Lady Cats were Zycheria Russ with 5 points, Tykeia Campbell with 3 points, Destiny Turner, Denise Chappell and Mycha Myers Harris with 2 points and Detavia Salter with 1 point.

In double figures for the Lady Cats against the Lady Jackets were Zycheria Russ and Taralyn Brown with 10 points each. Other scorers for the Lady Cats were Ziauna Andrews with 6 points, Mycha Myers Harris and Tykeia Campbell with 5 points each, Detavia Salter with 4 points, Denise Chappell with 3 points and Keyona Crankfield with 2 points.

The Lady Cats tip off at 6 p.m. Saturday against Seminole County and the Bearcats tip off at 7:30 p.m.
