Barbara Joyce Alday was born May 11, 1958, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Bruce and Betty Eidson Alday. She married the love of her life, Charles Fitzgerald, and made their home in Bainbridge. She retired from Dollar Farm Products. Barbara was a member of Attapulgus Church of God.

“The Boss” of everybody everywhere, including the neighborhood, Dollar Farm Products and most certainly home, Barbara made sure you had what you needed even if she had to do without. Grandchildren were a different story; they had whatever they wanted because Grandma always said “YES”. She loved her job and her work family like they were her blood-kin. Barbara enjoyed telling stories especially if she thought she could get a rise out of you. To say she was “one of a kind” is quite the understatement. Many will miss visiting with her on the aisles of Wal-Mart and Heaven is surely popping with excitement with her presence.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Charles Fitzgerald; her children, Dana Davis-Connell and her husband, Roy, and Charlie Fitzgerald and his wife, Tracy; her siblings, Bubba & Sue Alday of Bainbridge, Bruce Alday, Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla. and Brenda & John Hannah; her grandchildren, Madison, Allie Grace, Sam, Hunter, Katelyn, Fisher, Hannah, Sarah, Aaron, Callie, Cameron and Saylor; and her sidekick, Bella. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings, Elizabeth Hughes and Betty Delores Alday.
