Esther Humphrey, 90, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dean officiating.  Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Chris Miller, Brian Rogers, Kevin Rogers, Charles Hart and Wayne Boyett serving as active pallbearers.

The family received friends prior to the service, from 10 to 10:45 a.m., on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Morningside Baptist Church. Esther Knight was born May 10, 1928, in Gordon, Ala., the daughter of Sam and Johnnie Snead Knight. She was a graduate of Climax High School and a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Esther was a meticulous housekeeper and filled her home with love. Her kitchen was always ready to serve food to family and friends with special treats for her dearly adored grandchildren. Esther loved being outdoors working in her yard or fishing. She kept her mind sharp by reading at every opportunity. Esther held a special place in her heart for her church and church family.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Sherrer and her husband, Norman, of Bainbridge, and Judy Rogers and her husband, Nick, of Lecanto, Fla.; her sister, Joyce Clayton of Ft. Gaines, Ga.; her grandsons, Chris Miller, Brian Rogers and Kevin Rogers; and her great-grandchildren, Kristen, Emily, Trey, Kaira, Kaiden and Caleb. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, J. L. Humphrey; and her siblings, Sam Knight, Eva Edmonds, Beatrice Boyett and Mable Martin.
