The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a construction contract to reconfigure the US 84 Business/East Shotwell Street intersection at the bypass in Bainbridge.

The $4 million project will include installation of a traffic signal. The signal will prevent conflicting traffic from running simultaneously, which may reduce the number of angle crashes. The contract was awarded in November to Oxford Construction Co. of Albany and has a completion date of June 30, 2020. The construction start date hasn’t been determined.

Two other construction contracts were also awarded to resurface Miller County state routes. Those are on US 27/SR 1 from the Decatur County line to north of Thompson Road and SR 273 from the Early County line to south of SR 91.
