Cheerleaders prepare to pump up crowd for football state championship at Mercedes-Benz

The Bainbridge High School cheerleaders are fired up and ready to make some noise for the football team at the State Championship Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday afternoon the cheerleaders could be found decorating the sign that the Bearcats will run through at Mercedes Benz Stadium. The whole team wanted to make sure the sign was just perfect and followed all guidelines. The sign will remain a surprise until game day, but gives a nod to “Remember the Titans.”

Senior cheerleaders, Sydnee Strickland, Sarah Kaylee Wynn and Darley Brock are especially excited for their final time under the lights to be at such a well-known stadium.

“We are most excited to cheer at the Benz and show up for our team,” Brock and Strickland agreed.

We are really ready to support our boys and get the fans pumped up, Brock said. The girls laughed and said they think it’ll be like what college level cheering is like.

In order to get everyone up on their feet, the cheerleaders have planned to paint more signs, give out rally rags and create “make some noise” signs.

They have enlisted the help of the Art Club to paint the town purple and gold, by decorating business windows and putting signage out in the yards.

The team plans to do another sendoff when the team leaves. They will be cheering and dancing in Willis Park, while the busses pull off and fans wave goodbye.

They are unsure of the time yet, but as soon as they know will post it, so everyone has the chance to cheer the team on.

Brock believes the team will take it all and bring home the championship.

“I really think we have a shot at this,” she said. “We have already played Warner Robins and we are a different team then we were earlier this season.”

Cheerleader Hannah Bell said she really just wants to see the team play their heart out and not give up no matter the circumstances.

“Win or lose, we love our team and are so proud of them,” Brock finished.

The football team will play December 11 at 4:30 at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta against Warner Robins.
