Mary Johnson, 86, of Smithville, Ga., passed away Friday, November 23, 2018.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 26, , at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Todd Sullens officiating. Interment followed at Beulah Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends prior to the service, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Mary Magdalene Hunt was born November 20, 1932, in Decatur County, the daughter of Zim and Mary Strickland Hunt. She was a graduate of Climax High School. She married James Johnson who preceded her in death. She worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Leesburg.
Mary was all about family. She loved having everyone together and hearing from them regularly otherwise. Her family affirms you never wondered where you stood as she would tell you exactly what she thought. Mary was strong in her faith and lived her life accordingly. Mary loved cleaning and took pride in her home. It came as no surprise that she enjoyed dressing up, shopping and getting her hair done.
Survivors include her children, Victor Johnson and his wife, Becky, of Murphy, NC, Zim Johnson and his wife, Lisa, of Thomasville, Ga.,Tina J. Martin of Smithville, and Anita J. King of Thomasville; her sister, Rebecca Logue; her eight grandchildren and her seven great-grands. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Nadine Dennis; and her granddaughter, Jessi King.
