No house at Christmas is perfect without the right decorations. Allison Betts Cantley and Bill Cooper have just the right touch to make every house merry and bright this season.

Cantley owns Ducks in a Row, which is a professional organization and decorating service. She has been decorating homes for Christmas the past 25 years and loves every minute of it.

Cantley takes what her homeowners already have and decorates with that, but if they want to add more she goes out and finds décor that would pair well with that they currently own.

“My favorite thing to do is the lights around the tree,” she said. “I start with the trunk and then wrap them around the branches.”

Cantley starts decorating homes beginning in October, but with the hurricane her schedule has changed somewhat.

“I have a standing appointment with my customers until I can’t do it anymore,” she said. “I just really love this time of year.”

Cantley has decorated up to 40 homes in the past, but has cut back over the years and now decorates for approximately 15 families every year.

One home she will always remember decorating was Cathy Cox.

“It was just really neat getting to decorate her home and work with her,” Cantley recalled.

Cantley’s friend, Cooper, who owns Cooper’s Florist is also in the business of helping people decorate for the holidays.

“I’ve been helping decorate for Christmas for 34 years,” he said.

Cooper enjoys working on people’s mantles in their home and creating custom garland pieces. He takes the pieces from past years and works around it, sometimes adding to it here and there.

He usually helps decorate for the Christmas Tour of Homes and always enjoys being a part of that.

Cooper said he started making Christmas décor on November 3, and hasn’t stopped yet.

Soon, he will even have to start ordering more greenery for next year. He and Cantley said they start creating and ordering new decorations in January for the upcoming year.

The homes they decorate this year are sure to inspire awe and delight from neighbors and guests, as they will make sure everything has a place this season.
