Mrs. Sarah N. Hutto Rathel

Mrs. Sarah N. Hutto Rathel, age 86, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018, in Bainbridge, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Rathel were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 1, in the Cadwell Chapel of Cox Funeral Home. The Rev. David Grubbs officiated. The family received friends immediately following the service. A private interment will be held at Oak City Cemetery.

Sarah Nevada Hutto was born September 16, 1932, in Miller County, Georgia. Her parents were James Ollie Hutto and Adelia Byrd Hutto. Sarah’s mother passed away when she was very young. Her dad and new mother, Mary, raised her. Sarah lived most of her life in Bainbridge. She married Charlie Rathel. Charlie preceded her in death on April 27, 1976. Sarah was a Godly woman. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to go fishing. Sarah Rathel deeply loved her family. She will be missed by her family and many friends.    

Sarah Rathel is survived by her children. Dorothy Watson and husband, Tommy of Colquitt, Georgia and Sandra Smith and husband, Rudy of Kellogg, Minnesota; sister, Ruby Rathel of Colquitt; brother, Earl Hutto of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Alicia Powell (Lee) of Brinson, Tony Watson (Carrie) of Colquitt, Chris Burgess (Mackenzie) of Bainbridge, Jamie Burgess of Wabasha, Minnesota, Gina Harrison (Shawn) of Cairo, Georgia, and Charlie Rathel (Holly) of Perry, Georgia; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children, Laverne Harrison and her husband, Bill, and Samuel Rathel and his wife, Yvonne.
