Hundreds of cars lined the streets surrounding Life Church as they awaited goods brought in from Hearts with Hands out of Asheville, North Carolina.

Pastor of Life Church, Mark Wilkerson said he had no idea this many of his church members were still in need until they started calling him asking for resources. With nowhere to turn, Wilkerson called Dr. Greg Lentz, President or Hearts with Hands and asked for his help.

Lentz and his team responded with semi loads of water, ice, pet food, diapers, meals, cleaning supplies and hygiene kits. They had been serving in Panama City Beach and Mexico Beach before arriving in Bainbridge.

Lentz was unaware of all the devastation the town had been facing, but gladly jumped in to help.

The people in need were given a sheet of paper when they pulled in and checked off the supplies they were in need of and how many people were in their household, so resource workers would know the quantity to give them.

Wilkerson said this has truly been a blessing because many of his church members have had a hard time getting their needs fulfilled by FEMA and they have particularly struggled with the application because some of them are unable to read.

After seeing the amount of need today, Wilkerson said he decided to have another semi load come in later this week.

He is hoping that some of these items will take the burden off of people who are already struggling to cope with this disaster.
