Henry Landon Griner was born July 16, 1943, in Donalsonville, Ga., the son of Odell Griner and Annie Wilson Griner. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. H. L. was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Known as a person who “loved the land”, H. L. was destined to be a farmer. He enjoyed tending the land he loved and working the livestock. If there was a livestock show nearby, H. L. was certain to be there. He was quite stubborn so he usually did things his own way. Family and friends knew he was a great cook especially if a grill or a fish fry was involved.
Survivors include his children, Julie Willis and her husband, Wayne, of Bainbridge, Hank Griner of St. Petersburg, Fla., Karan Griner of Cairo, Ga., Chris Pearce and her husband, Everett, also of Cairo, and Clay Griner and his wife, Tonia, of the Bethany Community; his brothers, Larry Griner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and DeWayne Griner of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Skyler, Zach, Dylan, Colin, Tyler, Lindsey, Laura and Hanna; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, H.L. was preceded in death by his son, Robert Griner.
