On Monday around 6:30 p.m., Bainbridge Public Safety Officer Chris Jackson performed a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Tallahassee Highway and Louise Street. 

As Officer Jackson approached the driver’s side, he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Upon checking the license of the driver, it came back as suspended.  Officer Jackson called for backup, and Officer Mike Prindle arrived at the scene. 

Officer Jackson asked for permission to search the vehicle, and the driver, identified as Mohammad Said, complied.  Said and a passenger, Henry Smith, were asked to step out of the vehicle.  In the front driver’s seat, Officer Jackson located a black handgun placed in

lunging distance of both the driver and the passenger.  A search of the rear of the vehicle turned up a brown paper bag with two clear plastic baggies containing marijuana.  Also located in the vehicle were two 1-gram cartridges of THC cannabis oil.

Mohammad Said of St. Petersburg, Florida was arrested and charged with:

• Possession of a Firearm/Knife During Commission of a Crime (Felony)
• Purchase/Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoid (Felony)
• Possession, Sale, Manufacture, or Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Felony)
• Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misd.)
• Possession of Drug Related Objects (Misd.)
• Failure to Yield When Entering or Crossing Roadway (Misd.)
• Henry J. Smith of St. Petersburg, Florida was arrested and charged with:
• Possession of a Firearm/Knife During Commission of a Crime (Felony)
• Purchase/Possession of Synthetic Cannabinoid (Felony)
• Possession, Sale, Manufacture, or Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Felony)
• Possession of Drug Related Objects (Misd.)
