The Bainbridge Lady Cats Varsity Softball team has continued to blow away fans this season with their numerous shutouts, and this week was no different as they beat TCC 2-0 and Veterans 6-0.

TCC was one of the most difficult games they have played all season, but with the help of two seniors and Lexie Delbrey’s pitching they were able to pull out a win.

“Lexie was throwing a great game; their pitcher was throwing a great game, we could just never get through,” Coach Christopher Bryant said.

Going into the ninth inning, the score was still tied 0-0.

Desirae Beachem then led off with a single to left field and Mabry Grace Briggs came up behind her and hit a triple.

“These seniors just produced,” Bryant said. “Two seniors to get us on the board.”

Mckynleigh Harrell hit a sac fly, giving the Lady Cats a 2-0 lead, before Delbrey headed back to the mound and sealed the win.

Bryant said it was one of the best and hardest fought games he has seen this season, but it was something the team needed before they headed to playoffs.

“We needed to scrap and dig deep,” he said. “It was by far one of the best games I’ve ever been a part of.”

Coming off this difficult game, the Lady Cats headed to Veterans on Thursday, where Delbrey threw a no-hitter.

The team racked up three home runs during the game. Delbrey went deep in the fourth inning, followed by Abigail Gardner in the sixth and Halle Cannon in the seventh.

Delbrey led the team, pitching seven innings and allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out 17. She also had three hits on four at bats.

Emily Myers took the loss for Veterans. She lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, while striking out five and walking one.

The Lady Cats will draw out of region four for playoffs, meaning they may have a matchup against Locust Grove again or possibly Union Grove.

Coach Bryant is not worried, though.

“With these 13, I like our chances,” he concluded.
