Hospital grants Shining Star Award

Haily Brashers, an employee of Memorial Hospital and Manor, who specializes in case management, received the coveted Shining Star Award at the opening of Tuesday’s meeting of the Authority.

The award is given quarterly to the employee who excels in caring for patient needs. She was nominated for her compassion when assisting people who are in difficult situations.

“She goes the extra mile,” said Brandi Fitzgerald, director of quality management, as she introduced the board to the recipient.

An example was given of the aid she provided a veteran with a long history of mental issues. She found a place for him, but he wanted to come back to the hospital. So, Haily continued to work with him until he was successfully placed in a new, satisfactory location.

The financial key indicators showed a positive net income of  $172,331 for the month of August. It also reported an increase in admissions.

Sherry Hutchinson, Director of Physician Services, gave a detailed report on each of the medical service areas, providing statistics that measure patient volumes and productivity of each office over the past two years.

Approval was given to enter into a new five-year lease with Baxter Healthcare, replacing the existing Spectrum Infusion Pumps with 65 upgraded Spectrum pumps. Monthly cost will be reduced by $3,329.95 over the five-year term.

The projected total five-year cost is $199,797.
