Lady Cats softball opens season with win over Lady Rams

Lady Cats Varsity softball team is starting out the season with a shutout.
Thursday afternoon the team beat Worth County with a 3-0 win.
Pitcher Lexie Delbrey helped lead the Lady Cats to victory, striking out 16 and walking one throughtout seven innings.
The Lady Cats opened up the first inning with a score, when Mckynleigh Harrell grounded out and scored a run. The team tallied a total of 11 hits throughout the game, with Desirae Beachem, Abbey Gardner and Mabry Grace Briggs all collecting two hits.
The Lady Cats also didn’t score a single error in the field with Harrell having 18 chances to score an out.
Number two took the loss for Worth County. She lasted six innings, allowing for ten hits and three runs, while striking out five.
Number one was Worth County’s key player, going 1-for-3 at the plate and leading Worth in hits and hitting a single in the seventh inning.
The Lady Cats hope to continue their victory at Wednesday’s home game against Cairo. The game begins at 6 p.m.
