Memorial services for Jackson “Jack” Elzie Jones, 93, of Climax, Ga. are at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo, Ga.. Rev. Steve Wooten and Rev. Jimmy Burt will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Mr. Jones passed away at Magnolia Place, Cairo, on Thursday, August 2, 2018.

Mr. Jones was born on October 10, 1924, in Grady County, Ga., to the late Samuel Cebren Jones and Vera Pearl Salter Jones. Mr. Jones was a manager of Thomasville City Airport, Thomasville, Ga., and a lifelong farmer. He served his country in the United States Navy. He has been a pilot since the 1940’s and loved flying. Badminton and checkers were two games he mastered-and continually bested his children and other opponents. He also loved animals, especially cows and dogs. Once he even rescued and raised a barn owl. He took pride in growing all types of things, citrus trees, his garden, pastures for the cows, and even flowers. He was of the Baptist faith. He was married to Juanita Spence Jones and later Mary Ruth Ledford Jones, both having preceded him in death.

Survivors include: children, Diane Tuten of Cairo, Cindy Bond (Doug) of Cairo, Vickie Burt (Jimmy) of Valdosta, Ga., Elzie Jones (Teresa) of Cairo, Mike Jones (Mary Ann) of Ochlocknee, Ga.; step-children, Elaine Bellamy (Danny of Woodstock, Ga. Kathy Sharpe of Hiawassee, Ga., Angie Strode (Jon) of Ocoee, Fla.; grandchildren, Pam King (Timmy), Sheri Smith (Sammy), Kevin Tuten (Angel), Amy Bergman (Bobby), Brian Tuten (Jodi), Jim Burt (Angela), Chris Burt (Joanna), Autumn Waters (Brent), Amber Tuggle (Will), Jack Ryan Jones, Courtney Hosey (Chris), Eric Elkins (Heather), Jeremy Jones (Brooke), Jacob Jones; great-grandchildren, Keira and Kaeden Tuten, Evan and Gillian Bergman, Kendall, Chloe, Sydney, Elijah, Tirzah, Hosanna, Mercy, Faythe, and Glory Tuten, Kristen Parlee, Brooke Ray Parlee, Tucker and Tye Smith, Austin, Brianna, and Kady Burt, Jordana, Caleb, and Callie Burt, Gabe Strickland, Cannon Waters, Turner and Gentry Jones, Gracie, Layla, and Willie Tuggle, Zak Elkins, Chase Hosey, Ryan Hosey, Jacob Elkins, Noah and Mason Morrell.

He was preceded in death by: father, Samuel Cebren Jones; mother, Vera Pearl Salter; and step-mother, Bernice Collins Jones; wives, Juanita Spence Jones, and Mary Ruth Ledford Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Rose Mary and Jack Heard; son-in-law, Leon Tuten.

Memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice of Bainbridge, Ga., or a church of your choice.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall of Pine Park Baptist Church, Cairo.
