Mark Pope has been named publisher of The Post-Searchlight and president of Bainbridge Media LLC.

Pope has been with The Post-Searchlight for more than 35 years. In June, he assumed responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the company.

“I appreciate the opportunity to fill the role of publisher at The Post-Searchlight, a newspaper that has served the community for over 111 years,” said Pope. “I am very confident that with the dedicated group of people we have on board, our advertisers can reach their audience while we provide the most news and information available for Bainbridge, Decatur County and the surrounding areas.”

Pope began working at The Post-Searchlight in 1982 in the pre-press department, later becoming a pressman and then head pressman. He was promoted to production manager in the 1990s and later became general manager. He continued to serve in that capacity when Boone Newspapers, Inc. purchased the newspaper on 2008.

“Mark is an experienced newspaper leader who cares deeply for Bainbridge and The Post-Searchlight. He will work hard to see that his newspaper meets its every obligation to the community and will do exceptionally well with his greater responsibilities,” said Todd H. Carpenter, president and CEO of Boone Newspapers.
