Saturday morning, a group of community-minded Bainbridge citizens called “Great Works in the CommUNITY” held a free back-to-school event for children at the Earle May Boat Basin.
Bainbridge Public Safety was thrilled to be asked to participate in the event, and brought along several fire trucks and police cars.
Kids ‘n Kops brought its train, and there were hayrides for kids and family to enjoy.
Event organizer Reginald Mims made sure that all of the children were provided with free backpacks stuffed full of school supplies, as well as coupons for free back-to-school haircuts given by Percy Williams. The kids and their families were also treated to a lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans and fixings.
The next “Great Works in the CommUNITY” event is planned for November. If you or your organization would like to get involved, please contact Reginald Mims at (407) 625-1995.
