At approximately 7:31 p.m. Wednesday night, Decatur County Fire and Rescue along with the Department of Natural Resources responded to a boating accident in the Flint River Heights area.

Corporal Steve Robinson said the boat had three adults inside of it, while the driver, Leonard Faricloth, pulled four children on an inner tube.

While pulling the children, the inner tube hit a tree and two of the kids faced a blunt force trauma, DCFR Captain King said.

The older of the children went to the hospital by ambulance, while the younger one was lifeflighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital by helicopter.

Robinson said he is unsure if the other two children jumped off prior to the accident or just remained uninjured.

While investigating the scene, Faircloth was arrested for boating under the influence with no bond reported.

King reminds everyone this boating season to not drink and drive and to also pay attention to the location and only boat in places where the driver is familiar with their surroundings.
