On Monday, July 2 just after midnight, Officer Timothy Shaw was patrolling at the Big Slough Landing off of River Road when he saw a red truck parked off of the roadway in the trees.
Shaw made contact with the two occupants of the truck. The men stated that they were fishing.
Shaw surveyed the surroundings and noticed that there were two fishing poles in the water and a small campfire.
He also noticed a brown backpack on the ground, and asked the men for consent to search the bag, to which they agreed.
Inside the backpack, Shaw located a baggie containing a crystal-like substance, and a glass pipe with residue in it. Shaw called K9 Officer Jayson Myers to the scene.
Myers deployed K9 Kenzo near the truck and was immediately alerted to the scent of drugs. A search of the truck uncovered a set of digital scales, several butane torches, and a pill holder containing suspected methamphetamine.
Fred Wayne Walker, 28, and Christopher Julian Amos, 24, were arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamines (Felony) and Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Related Objects (Felony).
