Charles T. “Wormy” Atkinson

Charles T. “Wormy” Atkinson passed away at the age of 76 on June 19, 2018. Charles was a native of Bainbridge, Ga., where he grew up. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. He was also a member of Local 72 out of Atlanta, Ga. and Southern Trap & Skeet of Birmingham, Al.

Charles enjoyed playing football when he was in high school and later in life his hobbies became hunting and fishing. He was a retired welder and pipe fitter.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nancy Atkinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ann; his three children: Stephanie A. Miller and her husband, Kevin, Charles T. “Charlie” Atkinson, Jr. and his wife, Karol and James Daniel “Danny” Atkinson and his wife, Danna. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren: Farrah Williams and her husband, Zane, Corey Atkinson and his wife, Brandi, Ashley Godwin and his wife, Trisha, Wesley Godwin and his wife, Ashley, Scott Atkinson, Emily Cloninger, Steven Malloy, Garrett A. Miller, Kaitlin Miller and Kylee Miller and eighteen great grandchildren.

Charles’ funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 22 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. A visitation for friends and family will be held one hour prior. A committal service will immediately follow the chapel service at Jefferson Memorial’s adjoining cemetery. There will also be a Celebration of life ceremony held on June 23 at 2857 Old Whigham Road, Bainbridge, GA 39817 from 1 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.
